Sales conditions & Insurance

Where does the sale take place?

The Auction is organised by ARQANA, which is registered as a Société de Ventes Volontaires in France. The sale is held exclusively online on www.theauction.online.

Where and how can I bid?

To register as a bidder, please click on the "register to bid" button in the top right hand corner of the home page.

After processing your request, ARQANA will send you a personal password allowing you to log on to the secure bidding platform.

What commissions and taxes apply?

Buyer’s commission is 6% +VAT, applicable to the amount of the final bid.
VAT applies on buyer’s commission at a 20% rate.
VAT also applies on the hammer price at 10%, except in the case of horses sold without VAT – this mention is carried on each lot’s presentation page.

How do I pay for my purchase?

Auction sales are considered to be paid cash. As a result, each purchaser must contact ARQANA’s accounts department immediately after the fall of the hammer and proceed to payment by wire transfer or check.
Transfer of ownership happens at the fall of the hammer. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to insure his/her purchase immediately after the sale.

How do I insure my purchase?

The organisers of The Auction have negotiated a specific policy with renowned practice Catherine de Buyl. The contract covers mortality of the fetus from the day of the sale until 120 days after birth, with the insured capital being doubled for free if the foal is healthy after 48 hours.
